The Vampires of Dartmoore was a German studio project leaded by German Jazz/Library musicians Horst Ackermann & Heribert Thusek, who released this one horror themed album in 1969. The band plays psychedelic rock with some clear jazz-rock influences and Halloween music elements all over the place. They've added some sound collage effects which give the album a really soundtrack kind of feeling.

Eric Feremans (Sint-Niklaas, 1951) is a Belgian actor and composer,  synth pioneer and teacher; by the age of sixteen Feremans started building modulators and eventually his first proto synthesiser. teaching musicians how this new technology worked became Eric’s mission. He found that in electronic music composition the understanding of the functioning of the machine is part of the musicianship. By the early 70s Eric’s synths were becoming more and more complex and he even played a concert with Belgian electronica pioneer Karel Goeyvaerts.

Kema (1938 - 1984) was the pioneering female Italian film music Composer/Arranger/Multi-instrumentalist Giulia De Muittis (aka Mrs. Alessandro Alessandroni). She composeed and performed this rare undercover pseudo-ethnological studio sessions made under her experimental alter ego Kema (The Pawnshop) combining the ethos of Can's "Ethnological Forgery Series" (EFS) with the studio trickery of Delia Derbyshire and unshakable credentials as one of the founding figures of Giallo film music and Italian psych soundtracks.

 

Perhaps best known amongst fans of Italian production music and Giallo movie soundtracks as the wife of the legendary Alessandro Alessandroni, composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Giulia De Muittis was an equally formidable force who emerged from the formative years of the aforementioned anti-genres and rose to a monarchic status within the country's vibrant, and seldom rivalled musical secret society.

Baligh Hamdi (7 October 1931 - 17 September 1993) was an Egyptian composer who created hit songs for many prominent Arabic singers, especially during the 1960s and 1970s; he frequently said that he drew upon musical ideas and aesthetics in Egyptian folk melodies and rhythms in composing his songs. He also drew on ideas that were floating around in the contemporary music of his time. His sound has a classical flavor due to the heavy use of the string orchestra. But he also made some use of electronic keyboards and guitars in harmony with the strings, or alternating with the strings, in many songs.

Nino Nardini (Georges Achille Teperino) was a French composer, arranger, engineer, conductor and producer. Frequent collaborator of childhood friend Roger Roger. 

Nardini was born in 1912, to an Italian father and French mother into a family of musicians. His father, a violinist and composer, was his main music teacher. He started his musical career early, at the age of seven, directing a philharmonic orchestra. While still a child, he formed the 5-piece orchestra "Les Diables Rouges" with his friend Roger Roger, which performed at local swing clubs on weekends between the 1920's and 30's.

After the Second World War, he worked conducting and composing Spanish and Mexican ethnic and folk-related music. He formed the Nino Nardini Orchestra in 1951. They were, among other things, featured in "La Chansons de Paris", a weekly musical program wich took place at the Theatre des Champs Elysees. The orchestra continued to perform dance and pop music live at the "Circus 58", allowing Teperino to fine-tune his arrangements in dance styles like paso doble, foxtrot and cha cha cha. He also conducted the orchestras of Radio Luxembourg, Radio Circus and Radio Theatre in Paris as well as taking conductor duties at a French circus, learning with it the arrangement 'trickery' and instrumentation to back the circus' gags and jokes.

In the early 1960's, he, along with Roger Roger, started work composing for music libraries, recording in various styles, often featuring instruments like the harpsichord, marimba or electric organ, and later analog synthesizers and electronic keyboards, instruments which he also featured in his pop arrangements at the time. In the mid-60's, he constructed Studio Ganaro with Roger Roger and Francis Gastambide, which him and Roger used to record and produce their compositions. Teperino and Roger both had fruitful careers in library music, composing a large amount of works for French and British libraries, also experimenting with electronic music in the late 60's and early 70's onwards. Their library music has been, and continues to be featured in numerous radio programs, animations, TV shows and films all over the world.

Emma de Angelis is one of the most enigmatic figures of the 1970's Italian soundtrack and library music network; her short recording career provides thirsty fans of speedball psychedelic rock and drum heavy instrumental funk with a tight discography rivalling many of the long-standing bastions of the otherwise male-orientated business.

Born in Rocca di Papa, near Rome, into a flourishing musical environment Emma was the younger sister of future award-winning composers Guido and Maurizio De Angelis, a duo, who under names like Oliver Onions and Dream Bags, would write chart-topping lyrical theme tunes for a wide range of Italian crime, Giallo and Spaghetti Western films featured alongside full scores by Ennio Morricone and the Magnetic System composers (Bixio, Frizzi and Tempera). 

With encouragement from her brothers, Emma, who would also write music under the pseudonym of Juniper, would record a tight clutch of solo-penned material and seldom credited studio contributions to Guido And Maurizio's film commissions.

He is active in electronic music since 1965, mostly in film music and TV jingles and concerts with interactive computer devices and multiple collaborations with various artists in the fields of jazz and electronic music. He is also running a studio in Zurich, Studio Für Elektronische Musik Spoerri.

Benedetto Ghiglia (1930-2012) was an Italian composer, conductor and pianist; born in Fiesole, Ghiglia graduated in composition and piano at the conservatory of Florence.He then started an activity as a chamber musician, both as solo and in couple with cellist Pietro Grossi.

Since the early 1950s Ghiglia focused his career on composing film scores, often working in the documentary genre. In 1976 he formed the stage company "Teatro-Canzone" with his wife Adriana Martino. He also composed incidental music for all the stage plays by Mario Missiroli.

Óscar Ichazo (1931 - 2020) was a Bolivian philosopher and the originator of Integral Philosophy. In 1968, Ichazo founded the Arica School. 

The Arica School, also known as the Arica Institute (which is its incorporated educational organization) or simply as Arica, is a Human Potential Movement group founded in 1968 by Ichazo. The school is named after the city of Arica, Chile, where Ichazo once lived and where he led an intensive months-long training in 1970 and 1971 before settling in the United States (NY), where the Arica Institute (incorporated in 1971) has since been headquartered. The Arica School can be considered "A body of techniques for cosmic consciousness-raising and an ideology to relate to the world in an awakened way.".

 

However, the collective also produced several musical albums in the US (presumably to increase awareness of the school), this resulted in the release of four totally eclectic masterpieces: Arica & Audition (1972), Heaven (1973) and Music In The Nine Rings (2002); crazy spaced out folk, progressive, meditative and psychedelic jazz sounds with some exquisite moments, ripe for sampling.

Les Nouvelles Structures Sonores Lasry Baschet was a French experimental band created in 1955 by Bernard Baschet, engineer and instrument maker, with his brother François Baschet plus the couple of musicians Yvonne Lasry and Jacques Lasry. 

The aim of the band was to demonstrate the interest of the new instruments designed by the Baschet brothers, mainly based on vibrations of cristal sculptures. The band did especially play covers of classical music themes. They did tour around the world and appear in a lot of TV shows.

The Cults Percussion Ensemble was a  Scottish group formed by percussion teaching legend Ron Forbes in the mid 1970s. Played by a group of 11 girls with an average age of 14, the group included Evelyn Glennie, who was destined to become one of the world’s greatest percussionist. This is her first ever record. They came from a few of the schools in the area, including the Cults Academy, Ellon Academy, Aboyne Academy, Inverurie Academy and Powis.

 

The music here is really quite unique, with a celestial swirling hypnotic quality. The blend of glockenspiels, xylophones, vibraphones, marimba and timpani drums is quite intoxicating and can recall the shimmering warmth of the desert sun one minutenor freezing glacial icecaps the next. The Ensemble perform with an effortless tightness and deftness of touch, building textured layers with recurring percussive motives which appear simultaneously dense and yet sparse, almost sounding like modern sampling.

Omar Khorshid (1945 - 1981) was an Egyptian guitarist, musician, composer, accompanist, and actor. Born in Cairo, Khorshid was a well-known guitarist who accompanied many singers, including Farid Al Atrash, Umm Kulthum, Mohamed Abdel Wahab and Abdel Halim Hafez.

 

Khorshid's musicality in orchestra performances, original songs, and film scores was considered revolutionary at the time in the Middle East. His extensive theoretical knowledge, fusion of Western and Eastern music, and incorporation of different, more modern instruments (e.g. the electric guitar, electric keyboard, synthesizer) in Arabic music was previously unheard of. Khorshid's unique style sparked inspiration from many aspiring musicians not only in the Middle East, but in Europe and the Americas as well. His mixing of "modern" western electric instruments with older Eastern tunes spawned a new, more modern sound of electric music that many use for discos today.

Shankar–Jaikishan (also known as S-J), were an Indian composer duo of the Hindi film industry, working together from 1949 to 1971. They are widely considered to be the greatest ever music composers of the Hindi film industry. Later, Shankar continued to function as a music director alone, still giving music under the banner Shankar–Jaikishan, till 1987.

Shankar–Jaikishan, along with other artists, composed "everlasting" and "immortal melodies" in the 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s. Their best work was noted for being "raga-based and having both lilt and sonority".
